How To Create a New Profile in Outlook 2007
with Outlook Anywhere
(RPC over HTTP)
The following steps will help you setup an
Outlook 2007 profile that uses https to connect with your mailbox at
Exchange Hosting Service. The purpose of this configuration is to enable
a full-featured Outlook 2007 connection to an Exchange server over the
Internet, using an Internet service which includes a firewall.
Availability of Outlook 2007
If you don't already have Outlook 2007,
download it using the same username and password that you use to access
your email in OWA, from ftp://ftp.webville.net or
www.webville.net/ftp/

Setup
Use the following steps to add a new Outlook profile to your computer.
- Right-click the Outlook icon in your start menu - or
- In Windows XP, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. If the option to "Switch to Classic View" appears at
the left, choose it. Double-click either the Mail or the Mail and Fax icon. The
following dialog will appear.

- Do not click the E-mail Accounts button. Click the
Show Profiles button. The following dialog will appear. If you have more
than one profile, they will show up in a list here.

- Do not click the Properties button. Click the Add button.
The following dialog will appear. Type a name for the new profile and
press Enter or click Ok.

-
Click the check box next to Manually configure server
settings and click Next.
Auto Account Setup will work only if you're using Outlook 2007, your
mailbox is on our Exchange 2007 mailbox server, and the DNS for your
domain name is properly configured with the Autodiscover host name.

-
Do not choose Internet E-mail, choose Microsoft
Exchange and click Next.

- This page is the heart of the matter. See illustration below. Enter the Exchange server name and your username. Your username
(or a demo account username) will be provided to you by email.
The
Microsoft Exchange Server name to type is SHELLEY3.WEBVILLE.NET
Type the short version of your username, usually the first part of
your email address, prior to the @ symbol.

- Do not click the Check Name button. Click the More Settings button.
Most Internet providers have firewalls, and that may
become apparent at this step. If you are behind a firewall, your window
may hang
for a minute or so, while Outlook tries to connect to the server. It may return an
error message to the effect that it could not connect to the server, as
in the
illustration. This is expected. Click OK.
If you don't get this message, that's ok too, see step 9 below.

- After clicking OK to the error message, the following dialog
may
appear.

- If you get a dialog similar to the one shown above, click Cancel.
An Exchange Server dialog like the one below will appear. Click the
Connection tab page.

-
Place a check next to Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP.
Click the Exchange Proxy Settings button. The following dialog will
appear.
- In the box labeled "Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for
Exchange," type the following:
shelley5.webville.net
Both options, On fast networks... and On slow
networks... should be checked.
Under Proxy authentication settings, click the drop down list and
choose Basic Authentication. Click OK on the Exchange proxy settings
dialog.
- That should bring you back to the Email accounts
window. If the server name and user name are not yet underlined, press
the Check Name button. When the server name and mailbox name are
underlined, they have passed the check name test and your configuration
is good.

-
Make sure the option to Use Cached Exchange Mode is selected
and click Next.
-
Click Finish to dismiss the
congratulations page of the Wizard. You should see the dialog
listing all your Outlook profiles, and the new one you just created
should be listed there. Just below that list, don't neglect to select your new
profile in the drop down list, so Outlook will use it when starting.
-
When starting Outlook with your new profile, it is
important that your user name is entered correctly, as well as your
password.
