Connectivity - NT4
- On the desktop, right-click the Network Neighborhood icon and select
Properties from the context menu to bring up the Network dialog
box.
- By default, the Identification tab is displayed. This tab shows your
current computer name and domain name. Click the Protocols tab. The
Protocols screen is shown.
- Select TCP/IP Protocol and click the Properties button. This brings
up the Microsoft TCP/IP Properties dialog box.
- By default, the IP Address tab is selected. Click the DNS tab. Doing
so displays your DNS settings, as shown in the illustration
below.
- Click the Add button below Domain Suffix Search Order, type your
domain name and click OK. Then click the Add button again, type
webville.net and click OK. Your settings should look something like
the illustration.

- If you're using Windows NT 4.0 please be aware of this potential
problem with service pack 5, as explained in Q237942.
The solution is to upgrade to service pack 6 or higher.
- The key point is that webville.net has been added to the list of
domain (or DNS) suffixes.
The next step in the setup process after configuring
the DNS suffix search order (or installing the HOSTS file) is the
Connectivity Test. You can return to the
Step-By-Step page and go from there if you
prefer.
