  iPhone Setup

When Exchange ActiveSync is configured and working correctly, you will hear new email hit your iPhone within seconds of when you hear it hit your desktop Outlook. If you move a message from the inbox to a subfolder on your iPhone, you will see that change reflected on your desktop Outlook within seconds. Needless to say, we're big fans of ActiveSync, which was added with the 2.0 iPhone software upgrade in July 2008.

The 3G and 3Gs iPhones come with 3.0 or later and they make excellent ActiveSync Exchange email clients.

Start by removing any old email configuration from the iPhone then add a new Exchange email account configuration to get ActiveSync.

From the home screen, touch Settings, then touch Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Choose Add Account. Choose Microsoft Exchange.

Enter your primary email address on the first line, which may or may not be the same as your logon. The example on the screen shows entering your logon in the domain\user format, which means webville\user. You can do that or it will also accept your logon in the user@domain.com format. Click Next. If you put in the correct information a message will appear that says Unable to Verify Certificate. Click Accept and you're basically done (next, next, finish, blah blah blah)

  • If the autodiscover DNS SRV record for your domain is not configured correctly, you may get a different message and you may need to input the server info manually.

If you have to input server info manually, see the server name and screen shots below.

If your mailbox is on our Exchange 2007 server systems, use the server name
shelley5.webville.net
If your mailbox is on our Exchange 2010 server systems, use the server name
mail.webville.net
