Exchange Hosting Service is compatible with Macintosh, and we welcome Mac users. We have a number of clients who use Macintosh. Although most of our tech support pages are written for Windows users, this page will provide some Mac specific instructions.

See below for Mac Mail, here's Entourage:

The following is a customized adaptation of Microsoft's instructions found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931350/en-us

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Entourage for Mac, you cannot connect to your mailbox on Microsoft Exchange Server.

CAUSE

This issue can occur when the URL that is used by Entourage to connect to Exchange Server is in the wrong format.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, manually configure the Exchange Server account properties in Entourage. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Start Entourage.
2. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
3. If you already have configured an account, click Exchange, click the account that you want, and then click Edit. Go to step 6.

If you have not configured an account, click Exchange, and then click New.
4. If you do not receive the New Account dialog box, go to step 5.

If you receive the New Account dialog box, click Assist me.
5. Click Configure account manually.
6. In the various entry boxes, type suitable values. Alternatively, keep previously entered values.
7. In the Exchange server box, type the value in one of the following formats, as appropriate:
Use the following format:
https://shelley5.webville.net/owa/user@contoso.com  or
https://shelley5.webville.net/owa/alias
https://mail.webville.net/owa/user@contoso.com
https://mail.webville.net/owa/alias

Note In these formats,user@contoso.com is a placeholder for your default SMTP address. Alias is a placeholder for your Exchange alias, which is almost always the portion of your logon prior to the @ sign. Your logon and your alias may or may not be the same as the portion of your email address prior to the @ sign. If you don't know what your alias is, contact us.
8. On the Advanced tab, enter other details as necessary. Alternatively, keep previously entered values. Then, click OK.
9. Exit and then restart Entourage. This makes sure that Entourage uses the newly entered Exchange Server account settings to connect to the mailbox on the server that is running Exchange Server.

In order to get the full benefit of Exchange server functionality, you need to use Entourage 2008. You can download updates and Mac software from Microsoft at the following location:

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/download/

Exchange Server support is already built into Entourage 2008 and 2004 and was greatly enhanced with Office 2004 for Mac Service Pack 2 (SP2).

Mac Mail

Screen shots below were made with Mac Mail 2.1.3 on OSX 10.4.11 (PowerPC)

Note new server name for 2010, use mail.webville.net in place of shelley5.webville.net - screen shots not yet updated.

A client provided the following useful information for our Entourage users.
In order to open another user's folders in Entourage, you must be a delegate of the other user. Folder permissions alone are not enough. See our Open Other Users Folders
page for more info.

Please help us improve our Mac support. If you find any problems with this information, or additional tips and tricks we should pass on to other Mac users, please let us know.
