BlackBerry BES Activation
BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES)

BES is the best way to connect your BlackBerry with your Exchange Server mailbox. To get started, send us an email to request BES service. We just need to know which mailbox to enable.

When we enable your account, we'll give you an activation password. That password is good for 48 hours or 5 activation attempts.

You may need to check with your wireless provider (AT&T, Verizon, etc) to verify that your cell phone account has an appropriate data plan which supports or allows BES. In the case of Verizon, you need the $45 data plan, not the $30 data plan, in order for BES to work. If you try to activate BES with the lesser data plan, it will just hang and eventually tell you to contact the administrator.

Remove all other email configurations from the phone before attempting the enterprise activation. If you have trouble, doing a wipe before the activation usually clears it up. If you fail to remove a BIS email configuration from the phone before activating BES you will get duplicates. Remove all other email configurations from the phone before activating BES.

See the following animated step-by-step guide about how to activate BES on your BlackBerry, and where to input that password.
